Our topic this term is based on our solar system.  Each class will have it's own focus.  We will be using our Inquiry model to learn about this expansive topic.

Some things to think about during this topic are;
  • Knowing there are more planets than just earth
  • Describe the features of earth and comparing these to other planets
  • Understand the effects the sun and moon have on the earth
  • Investigate the charateristics of the planets in the solar system
  • Identify different bodies in space
  • Explain the relationships between bodies in space

During our IMMERSION stage (finding out as much as we can) we have planned to use the Space Dome.  This will give us the opportunity to learn more about space.  There will be a cost to use this resource of $10 per child.

We have a number of resources that can be used by the children at anytime on the folders to the right.

Paul Gilding talks about people using up too many of earth's resources.  Quite an interesting piece to listen to.

So, where would we go?  What changes need to be made for us to be able to survive there?
